56 steering box rebuild/buy ??

So I am on the fence as to replacing the stock steering box or rebuilding the box I have. Nothing really wrong with it except that leaks and it is a ***** to get out once the motor goes in!!!

Is the rebuild on one of these that tough ??? The price on a new/remanufacture box is kinda of steep but if I screw up the rebuild I might have been money and time ahead to just get the new one to begin with???

Help me here guys, tell me what ya think
thanks
bb

If it works pretty smooth and doesn't have much slack in it you can probably replace the bearings, seals and gaskets for a pretty small cost.

Classic truck parts shows a steering box rebuild kit with bearings, bushings and gaskets for 64.95 http://www.classicparts.com/1955-59-.../#.VfcXyvSmhYc

299 for a rebuilt column. http://www.classicparts.com/1955-56-.../#.VfcYTPSmhYc

They are pretty easy to rebuild yourself. Just basic mechanics.
