Oh know! What did I do?!
Hi. So I usually hang out in the '60-'66 area mainly because I'm in the process of going through my '62 GMC.
So today while visiting my friends metal fab shop " I was there for raw steel to build a gate and a stand for my '62 cab" I noticed there was what looked like the top of a '67-'72 cab out in the yard amongest the many other vehicles, of course I wanted to check it out closer. I walk out there and soon realize it is just the cab with doors all the front sheet metal and two extra doors on the hood no grill no frame no engine trans or bed. it looks to be a '69-'72 just because of the hood but it doesn't have side marker lights so it might be a '67 with the wrong hood, something looks funny about how the hood and fenders meet.I start poking around and find that it was a manual trans cab and has all the brackets and things for the clutch pedal! Score!! I want to convert my '72c-10 into a manual trans and would eventually need all the stuff from this cab someday when I get that far. It turns out the cab belongs to my friends uncle. he wanted the whole lot gone so it was all or nothing. Well I now have the bracket i need for a project I'm not currently working on and I need to figure out what to do with all the extra sheet metal. Totally spaced taking some pictures but I'll go back tomorrow. In the mean time I'll leave you with a couple pictures of my trucks.

Cool to live near Santa Cruz and have a place to spread out with your toys. One of my favorite places I've been. Are you on the way up to Boulder Creek?

Re: Oh know! What did I do?!
The '72 is at my friends house in Bonny Doon. Me and the '62 reside in Santa Cruz near UCSC. Boulder creek is twenty to thirty minutes into the mountains from my house.

Re: Oh know! What did I do?!
Finally made it back to take a better look. The VIN was in good shape and I think it tells me it was originally a 1971 c20 4x4 with a v8 and four on the floor. Side markers are filled in. Guy that owed it years ago was there and swears up and down it is a '69.

Re: Oh know! What did I do?!
You usually just have to blow people off that have crazy stubborn feelings about the year (or anything) on a truck when the VIN clearly states another.
I notice most people get that way when they see a title that states a wrong year. They can't fathom that the DMV personnel typing the info is human and can make mistakes. Looks like an okay cab. Is there rust through on the leading edge of that hood? Any other rust issues on that cab that are more serious? It'd be awesome to see that cab make it's way back on a 4x chassis. |

Re: Oh know! What did I do?!
Does it have the raised section of the inner roof panel where the rear view mirror mounts? That is a 71 only cab feature.
K20's are a nice find in just about any condition. The rolling chassis is a good base to build the truck any way you like. Have fun, Tom
