Question about SBC
I currently own a '72 with an L6 and 3spd on the column. I have just purchased a 700R4 tranny and eventually want to swap to a 350 SBC. HOWEVER, I am broker than broke after making several small purchases for my new old truck. So, my question is this: will my L6 pull that 700R4 ok AND how big of a hassle is it going to be to only swap the tranny now as opposed to doing it ALL later?
Any insight is much appreciated!

The TV cable may be kinda fun to get situated, but the inline will do great with it. In reality, since you probably have the base model 3.73 gears, it'll work out great with that tranny.
You'll need a good tranny cooler, an automatic tranny cross member, a new drive shaft (most likely) a flex plate and a shifter. I don't think I left anything out. Once you have it installed and adjusted pretty close to good, beat feet to a tranny place that will adjust it with oil pressure guages...not just doing it by ear. If it is done wrong, you'll be cussing as you put the old tranny back in. |

Yes, my gears are the stock 3.73 ratio. I am buying the linkage and crossmember from JoesJunk here in Independence and have a tilt column for an automatic tranny. So it sounds like I will have to have my shaft cut down, get a flex plate and also a tranny cooler. WOW! Sounds like I am missing a lot. Think I will have to have some help on this as I can barely spell most of this stuff.
Thanks again!
