Frame my Battery

I had planned on using a drop down but I always wondered if it was really necessary? Especially if I put a charging access point in the step area.

Do you think a charging access point is necessary or is the battery relatively accessible in place if you need to jump start it for example?

On thing I have learned from modern cars, you don't need to jump by hooking to the battery it's self. Many cars of today have a place that is more accessible than the battery to jump from.

Here is a Chevy Equinox.



A Chrysler 200



A BMW (don't know the model). You would put the positive there and the neg right on the strut stud and nut.



So your battery can be under the cab like that and then have the positive cable running up to a junction on the inner fender and then down to the starter. Open the hood and wham, there is your positive point and then any ground is doing to be your negative point.

You have to remove the computer to replace the battery?? Every engineer should be required to work in a real auto shop for 6 months. Must be the same group that made is so you have to remove the radiator and intake manifold to replace the Honda starters.

Dan, The battery I used has both top post and the side screw terminals, so its easy for me to connect my battery tender to them. But when I put the new frame together with a raised bed floor, Ill move it to the bed area, as the current location will be hard to get to with the lowered stance.

No, the battery isn't even there, it's in the trunk or something like that.

Maybe something like this:

...will keep you from having to put your battery in your bed. This is what I'm thinking of doing in the passenger side step area.

Hey Doug, No not fabricated. It's a stainless steel unit I purchased, can't think of where, it was in one of the truck mags years ago. Will see if I can find were I got it...Jim

Yep, made it from some angle iron and flat stock.
