From what I know.... someone will correct me if I am off...
1/2T's - 73-74
Heavy Half 1/2T's - all up to about 80 (I think)
3/4T I believe all of them up to 80.

You need the specific brackets for the compressor. so yes it will fit as long as you have the brackets.

Not sure about all Chris but my 79 doesn't have that member on it. I'm thinking 3/4 and 1 ton.

Just a thought but I wonder if it came with only certain tranny models?

Thanks Brandon. I put it there and second thought myself and put the correction disclaimer there. I know I have seen a couple that had them.

I wouldn't use a pancake (radial) compressor on a 454 if I could help it. The axil type is much more durable.

ok i know the brackets are different for the big block...

but what i meant to ask was:......will the pancake compressor fit on the bbc brackets....i didnt want to have to buy a new compressor also...but looks like i might have to....

i have heard a ton of bad things about the pancake compressor..

i would think that the bigger compressor would make cooler air...

any thoughts are welcome..

I don't think either one is better than the other when it comes to cooling. I have the big compressor on my 77, and it is converted to 134 freon. It will freeze you out of the truck except on the hottest days.

I had the smaller compressor on my 82 Blazer, still running R12, and it would do the same. It was extremely cold unless the temp was in the upper 90's.

I think the key to a cold a/c is having everything working properly.

BTW- These are both black trucks

My 85 4x4 has a double hump. Not sure if they would bolt to a 2wd or not. But it has one hump for the driveshaft and one for the exhaust. Of course its got duals and the one has to go around the transfer case.

Destructo - he is talking about the crossmember that has double humps for the exhaust.

But would a 4x4 crossmember bolt into a 2wd? If so that would give you two humps for exhaust to go through. I'm not sure if it would just bolt in, but it seems like it would. I know he wants one for exhaust, but if hes got a 2wd and put a 4x4 crossmemer in he could use the 2 humps for exhaust rather than one for a driveshaft.
