Annoying noises

I have 2 annoying noises from my 80 c10....
1- squeak from inside the door when window is rolled down. I can hold the glass and sometimes the hold the handle and it quits. Window regulator?

2- knocking noise felt through steering column over bumps. Column bearings? Rag joint? Gear box?

How do the guide felts look in the door? typically when they wear or are out of adjustment (ie: not putting enough pressure on the glass) they tend to cause squeaking when the window is down. Putting slight pressure on the glass by hand will stop it as you describe.

Re: Annoying noises

Look great because they are new. That's not saying much though.

Re: Annoying noises

If tilt steering and there is some slop, another suspect is the 3 or 4 screws at the base of the inside of the column.

Re: Annoying noises

You didn't say if it is power steering or not. Have you checked your ball joints or Ty rod ends do you have a lot of play in the steering wheel? I'm sure there are a bunch more things they need to know.

The squeaking could be the molding that goes around the window when it's closed. there is a tail piece of molding that hangs down inside the door in the back edge of the window ( straight down from the door locks) , it may be just rubbing on the glass when the window is down.
Just a thought. good luck.

Yes it has power steering
I have checked the ball joints and tie rods after lowering it before it was aligned.
Yes the steering wheel has a little play. I assumed worn out gear box.

I'll check into that. Thanks!
