Bushings

Anyone have a pic of 51 chevy front spring bushings and where to get them? I bought a set of 1 3/4 front springs with the U bolts and I need a good bushing, front and rear of the spring.

Re: Bushings

napa has them but you still need the bolts and may be able to get a better price on a kit from one of the truck trinket vendors.

Here are the bolts. They thread into the bushings

Those should be top of the line but I think you can still get quality parts at a better price if you find the kits.

77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

Re: Bushings

Auto zone also carries some of the bushings, but my favorite Rockauto is the cheapest with best selection , assuming your shackles are reusable if not then going the shackle kit way would be best .

On my 58 ,I got some parts from AZ, some from NAPA, and at the time I had to buy some from Rare Parts, because they were out of stock everywhere else.

also have to consider shipping cost some vendors are ridiculou$$$ with shipping cost.

Re: Bushings

Just about any of the common vendors for 47-54 trucks can hook you up. Don't forget the rubber or cork grease seals.

Just Fyi, getting the old bushings out can be a pain. I got 3 of mine out using a socket and piece of all-thread. The last one I had to use a body saw and chisel.

The frame bushings wouldn't budge. The screw/center pin was tight, so I left them alone.

Re: Bushings

I used to use a press to push them out when I had access to one but the last few I did I removed by taking the blade off my hacksaw running the blade through the bushing and putting it back on the saw and sawing just through the bushing in two places and the pieces pop right out.
