first time post, 6 lug question
Hi all, I originally owned a BBC Sierra Grande in the 80's while in high school. 30 years later it has not gotten out of my system. I recently bought a 1969 long bed big block truck from my wife's uncle, I am currently searching for some factory wheel/dog dish caps. I recently found some wheels on Craigslist --"Set of 4, 15 x 6, 6 lug white Chevy steel wheels, Originally on an 86 K5 Blazer" on craigslist. does anyone know if they will fit on a 1969 drum brake 6 lug truck and accept dog dish caps. Thank you in advance. I love the community spirit here on this site. Everyone could use more of this helpful and positive attitude in our everyday lives

Re: first time post, 6 lug question
I'm not positive, but I think the center hole is too small to work on our older trucks, so don't jump on them yet till some others who know for sure if they will work or not. and WELCOME!!

Re: first time post, 6 lug question
The K5 Blazer wheels will fit just fine. I ran my Jimmy wheels on my '69 short bed before I did the 5 lug conversion.

Re: first time post, 6 lug question
Yes they fit and they will fit over a disk conversion if you do that in the future (stock 71-72 size rotors, calipers etc). Good wheels to have, jump on em before a anoter pre-71 dude beats you to the punch. Highly sought after by the 60-66 crowd also. Caps should fit also.

Re: first time post, 6 lug question
I think it's pretty obvious that you scored! Those wheels will fit your drums and will still fit if you ever swap to disc. Man, they're getting hard to find.

Re: first time post, 6 lug question
Thanks, also got to take an hour drive up our Great Mississippi River road with the wife and dogs to pick them up. She even paid for them. Great to have her support making this a reality.

Re: first time post, 6 lug question
I bought some wheels and tires today for my 6 lug 69 C10. They came off a 2011 Chevy Colorado. 16 inch rim. The center bore and back spacing look like they will be fine.

In the meantime I'll try and look on tirerack and other sites that may have the specifications for the OEM wheel you mentioned. I do know that the stock wheel is hubcentric on my 1970 C10; and the lugnut profiles (cone seat, bulge cone seat, taper seat, etc.) would also need to match to retain the original designed load capacity. |

Re: first time post, 6 lug question
Thank you for taking and posting the photos, those are very helpful. Running four of those with their cutouts (in the steel) must really reduce the rotating mass when compared to the stock steel wheels. 1970 gas price must have been about $0.40 per gallon (unadjusted for inflation) so maybe that is part of the reason GM didn't bother to lighten the 1970 versions.
