What is this? What goes here?

Have a picture of this hole right above oil filter on 2003 5.3l. Looks like something should go here but I'm unsure. Thanks

Most of these have a plug in them. I used that hole to hook up the original oil pressure gauge on my '51 truck.

Re: What is this? What goes here?

There are 3 configs of that blockoff plate. That area is whats used for remote filter relocation or an oil cooler. The blockoff plate came in 2 versions like you have (one tapped for an oil sender, the other just a blank bung), and the third version is just a flat blockoff with no sender port). I have a flat blockoff instead of that one if you need it.

So there is no need for me to put a plug in mine? It's fine just as it is if I'm understanding you correctly

Re: What is this? What goes here?

Unless that ones been drilled/tapped, the hole itself should already have metal in it. Is there any sort of threading or anything? You can plug it, otherwise like I said, I have one that doesn't have a port if you'd like to bolt that on instead.

I can take yours and set it up for oil pressure gauges.

Re: What is this? What goes here?

They made them for the sensor, but also used a bunch with just the blank where the sensor would have gone, so yes and no.
The part # for the one without the sensor but that still has the boss was at one point discontinued IIRC, which is why you have to drill/tap it yourself if you want to use that as a place to mount an OP or OT sensor. The "regular" version that just blocks it off is the most common, and is the one you'll find in the LH8 pan kits.

Re: What is this? What goes here?

Just pull the two bolts off and see if the hole goes all the way through if you can't tell by looking in the top of it. If its solid, you may be able to drill and tap for a sensor, this is where a lot of guys put their oil sensors, or use it to feed their turbo or oil cooler. Autometer also has an adapter you can put in place of the stock oil sensor in the back of the valley cover, then you can add your oil sensor their for your aftermarket gauge.
