1500hd vs 2500

What are the differences between the 15000hds and a 2500. Came across a clean 1500hd for sale, see it had 8600gvw. I noticed ground clearance looked lower than a true 2500.

Re: 1500hd vs 2500

1500 HD is crew cab only, 2500(NON HD) is regular and extended cab only.

Suspension/Engines/Transmission/Axles are the same.

6.0/4L80E/Semi-Floating Rear End. All had 8600 GVW

The 1500HD is a 3/4 ton truck. I assume GM called it a 1500Hd to appeal to more buyers.

The 2500HD trucks have taller frames to accommodate the Allison transmission, heaver suspension, and full floating rear axles. 2500HD trucks have 9200 GVW.
