Two Factory Take-Off Tailgates

Just picked these up from a guy whose Father did reefer box conversions, back in the 60's and early 70's. Both have been in rafters for the last 40+ years. Not a ding or dent on either one and arrow straight, top to bottom. Both have some scuffs and light scratches from being moved around through the years. The factory paint is rather thin, so I've only used Carnuba wax to clean them up. I'm sure a mild polish and a buffer will bring both around, except where paint has wore through to factory priner. Gates are complete with latch and mechanisms. I'm asking $800 a piece, plus the cost of shipping. Shipping in thick cardboard boxes is typically around $80 in the US. My zip is 44011 and I'm West of Cleveland, by 30 min.

Re: Two Factory Take-Off Tailgates

You should ship those in wooden crates.
Way too nice to be damaged by the shipper.

Defiinitely!! I had a gate shipped from Alabama a couple years ago and UPS destroyed it. Don't know about Greyhound, but I would not take a chance on
it. GLWS and very nice gates!

Re: Two Factory Take-Off Tailgates

Thanks for the good words and advice, guys. Yeah, they were a great find. For those who are interested, I'll crate them and work with you on the shipping, but know that it will be over $125/each. First "I'll take it", gets them.

Re: Two Factory Take-Off Tailgates

White gate sold to DANTIP - pending payment. I'll PM you.

PDXk5 - I think the gate is Red, not Orange. Don't want to see you disappointed if it doesn't match your truck. Let me know your thoughts.
