Pulled this 68 out today(lots of pictures!)

Bought this 68 gmc half ton today. The old ladys dad bought it new but its been sitting since the 90s. Brought it home and pressure washed it off, turned out better than I expected Its a V-6 with a 4 speed too. Never even seen one of these v6s in person before though. Tomorrow we'll see if I can get it running.

I guess the dirt and grime protected the paint all these years.

Yeah the drivers side was next to the tarp for her goats and the rockers and everything are totally spotless! BUT the passenger side didn't fair to well. Rocker is very rusty and the fender is dented up pretty bad but for 600 bucks I can't complain! I'm going to take the fender off and bring it to someone who can professionally pull as many of the dents out as he can. Doesnt have to be perfect. Just want to keep as much original paint as possible.

Re: Pulled this 68 out today(lots of pictures!)

Nice find! It looks to have many good years left in her. In my dad's construction business there were 3 dump trucks and 2 pickups powered with GMC V6's. They were good reliable engines. Good torque, not much top end.
Enjoy the truck,
Russ

I thought for sure that was pitted rust on the bedside too!... nope, washed right off!

Sucks about the fender and rocker, but dang, I'd consider that a "win" with how nice the rest of the truck is!

Any pics of PS fender damage?

It looks ALOT nicer in the pictures while its wet. When it dries it still has a film like stuff on it from the trees or something that makes it look not as shiny. A good buffing job should take care of that though and make it look like in the wet pictures

This is the only good pic I have that really shows it. I will get an even better one in 10 minutes after breakfast when I ead back over to the dairy. Maybe some body guys on here can tell me if its even salvageable. For some reason the pics I took of the fender after the wash make it look WAY better than it actually is lol
