Help me fine tune my setup, please
Just picked up a steal of a deal on a complete engine trans and all accessories. Would like to do some "small" modifications while I have it all out. Looking for any and all feedback I can get.
LQ4 2004 103k miles, 4L80 trans, 3.73 rear This is not quite a daily driver, but close. Looking for low/mid torque. Have no desire to hit 120+ mph. Have no desire to have sub 10sec Times. Will never go to the track or road course. Will pull a mid size trailer from time to time and 27 ft camper. 16+ mpg would be a major plus. I do want some extra "get up and go". That being said, I will be adding LT headers, refreshing plugs-wires, water pump, timing chain, New cold-air intake, pro tune. Now, this is what I was considering to add: Holley mid-rise intake, New TB, slightly larger injectors over stock, New fuel rails, valve covers, custom cam. Keeping stock heads or finding a deal on 799/243 set. Don't want to pull the heads unless I find something great. Stall only if necessary. Complete overkill? Waste of money for this application? Better off spending money on "x"? Have been searching the web for so long but can't find anything specific to this type of setup. Thanks |

Re: Help me fine tune my setup, please
My stock LQ4 with no mods other than long tube headers and a dyno tune I get 16 MPG all day long with 4:10 rear end and 4l80e trans if I drive it right.

Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs. |

I would do just what you highlighted above. You could do some of your proposed ideas, but keep in mind if you pull a trailer like you mention, you can sometimes end up loosing power and torque down where you want it towing something.

Re: Help me fine tune my setup, please
For what you said you want all you need is a tune. For what you said you want to do well that will be a screamer!! FWIW I wouldn't bother with any of that that you mentioned except the cam, pushrods, springs, cai, and good tune. Everything else is enough for way more performance than your after. My mild cam without a stall is in the ball park of 425-440 hp at the crank. I'm expecting to see 360+ at the wheels when I dyno tune.
