rear glass
Hi guys,
I thought I'd install my new small tinted rear glass today, with the chrome lock strip. I've installed glass in hundreds of VWs so I thought i'd spend 20 minutes. Whoa!! Rubber is not bonded. Without lock strip, it is so floppy it cannot be held against window opening. With lock strip it is so rigid I cant get the rubber to slip over the surround. Please point me to the right FAQ or thread on how this is to be accomplished. This is the second DAY of trying variations in the install. Thanks, W |

To install your rear window, the rubber gasket goes on the body first. When that is seated then you slide the bottom corner of the glass in the gasket in one corner. Then you continue bringing the lip of the gasket around the edge of the glass installing the glass into the gasket. After getting the glass in the gasket you install the locking strip unto the gasket.
