Front drive shaft issues
I have searched, but could not find what I am looking for... My front drive shaft seems to be in pretty rough shape.... The shaft is two piece, where the two come together is very sloppy.... Can this be rebuilt, or can I buy a new one? I am assuming that all there is between the two are splines, or is there some sort of bearing on there that would tighten the two up? If I have to buy the two shafts, where can I get them? Thanks guys....

Re: Front drive shaft issues
A drive shaft shop can rebuild it.

Re: Front drive shaft issues
really not worth rebuilding it, especially if its worn where you describe.
better to spring for a brand new shaft and joints. it will cost more up front but it wont go through as many u joints and will not damage your axle and trnsfere case. go for a new one and be done with it |

Re: Front drive shaft issues
Slip and stub can be replaced by a driveshaft shop. If your tube and weld yoke are in good shpe there's no need to get a new shaft.

Re: Front drive shaft issues
He means there's a lot of ifs. Do you have a 4x4 or are you taking about the front piece of a 2 piece driveshaft? If you are talking about a 2 piece driveshaft there were two different. Styles used commonly refered to as hd and light duty, the hd shaft has a slip and stub where the shafts connect, the light duty has a bolt on yoke with splines but no slip. Either can be rebuilt easily by any driveline shop and balanced as an assembly.
