I've removed and installed a manual transmission from inside the cab, can a Th350 be installed from inside the cab?

I don't think the bell housing would fit through the floor but you can measure to be sure.

With a big enough hole you could probably swap the engine out from inside the cab but I think a TH350 would be best done from underneath.

Well, between the x-frame, torsion bar crossmember, and the exhaust, there really isn't a way to get the auto in from underneath. My original plan was to lift the cab, but I'm just wondering if anyone has done this swap through the hole in the floor.
I did take some measurements, and it looks like my th350 is 19-1/2 wide by 27-1/2 long.

I don't think the tail shaft would clear the hole in the floor at the rear.

you will have to get that MT cross member out of there, I tried but could not get away with not removing the MT cross member on my 63. it was in the way of the automatic.

my suggestion is to pull the whole motor, bolt the auto to it, and then slide the whole unit back in.

you are probably going to want the room to trim that cross member, install your th350 tailshaft cross member, and to route the cooling lines.

I would just drop the exhaust out of the way and get a trans jack and put it in. you would have to unbolt the exhaust anyway if you take the engine out. that is a lot of extra work for nothing to take the engine out.
