2" suspension lift in a 67-72 2wd truck? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Anybody do a suspension lift on a 67-72 2wd truck? How did they go about lifting the front? Any parts, pics, ideas, suggestions? At this point anything will help.

See pics in sig link. 2" heavy duty tuff country springs up front. Removed factory block(approx. 1") in rear and added 2" block and an add-a-leaf. Actually got about 3" of lift, nothing has settled. I've had some hvy loads since installing lift (2 tons sand, 1800lbs concrete pipes a couple others) real pleased with results.

Keep in mine that 67 and 68 had longer springs in the rear. A 69 to 72 "kit" will not fit these two years on the rear of a 4x. You can move the spring hanger... or buy custom springs.

zyggy72 wants to lift a 2 wheel drive not a 4x4.
Not sure how you would lift a 2 wheel drive.the back you could use blockes but not sure obout the front.

Good question.my 3/4ton sits up high enough,I have had people ask me if it 4-wheel drive

The front of my 3/4ton squats pretty low and with the new rearend setup that I am putting under her makes the nose point toward the ground. The rear of the truck is raised about 3 - 4 inches with the new rearend setup and I would like to lift the front at least 2 inches to nearly even her out. I also prefer to have to get up into the truck than have to sit down into it.

Your front springs may (probably) are just worn out. a PO may have heated or cut them.

I put a set of block springs on the front of my 67 and got about 2 inches of lift.

That should read "Big Block Springs" not block springs - BTW I did this on my 67 1/2 ton just to level it out a bit without dropping it, but am now working on dropping it all they way around.

I was considering replacing my springs with the 1-ton/big block springs anyway, I was wondering if there were other options.

Eaton Springs will make you a set of coil springs that are just like the originals in your truck with 2'' lift for 159.00

RANCHO has a 2wd lift kit for 73 and up that may work with 72 and down. Seen it in a classic industries catalog.

I have the Rancho front springs installed in my 1971 3/4 ton 2wd chvy and a 3 inch body lift on 33 inch bfg mud terrains.... I f you need any info, let me know.

Just in case you guys didn't know, you can use 73-87 upper/lower control arms, springs, spindles, outer tie rods, control arm bushings, and ball joints. If you use these items, you need to use all of them at once, meaning you cant do upper/lower control arms w/o ball joints........They will bolt up with no special welding or whatever.....

I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone. 1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed. 1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm
