courtesy light vs cargo light
I am wiring my 79 truck with a new painless harness. I have a couple wires I am not sure of the difference. The original harness has has the dome light spliced to go to the dome and then a switched line going to the cargo. The new harness has a dome and a courtesy light. Not sure what the courtesy light is. any thoughts I have the harness diagram, but not clear

Could be the floorboard light near the glove box. In my 75, comes on with the dome light.

Re: courtesy light vs cargo light
I would have to agree with Dead Parrot, the courtesy lamp would be the one under the dash that comes on with the dome light. Like you say the cargo lamp is spliced into the dome lamp circuit with a switch.

Re: courtesy light vs cargo light
Well... After rethinking and editing I think you guys are on the right track. Underdash and dome...

Re: courtesy light vs cargo light
The dome light is the one on the headliner and the courtesy lights are the ones under the dash. When I did mine, I added a couple extras to the existing one. It really made a big difference.

Re: courtesy light vs cargo light
A buddy of mine used rope style led lights all the way across for his under dash lights.

Re: courtesy light vs cargo light
This is the threshold plate. I just tied it into the wiring that goes to the door switch.
http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cc/full.aspx?Page=73 And then the courtesy light kit I got from LMC also. Those just tied into the existing wiring for the one courtesy that is there from the factory. I left the one in its original place, and then I just put one at each end of the dash. I also used LED bulbs. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cc/full.aspx?Page=191 |

Re: courtesy light vs cargo light
Cool thx for the link. That's a lot brighter than just the stock bulb
