Need some help
New to 61 and torsion bars. Question is I found a crossmember out of a 68 c10. Will it work to swap in? Plans are build with aftermarket tubular control arms for air bags drop spindles and disc break conversion. My 61 has in line 6 235 will that factor in to swap? Thanks for the help and If anyone has a headlight bucket they want to sale I need one.

Re: Need some help
your better off going with a later suspension that already has disc brakes etc. bet you got the 68 front end for nothing?
there is quite a bit of info on this up in the FAQ section ron |

Re: Need some help
To answer your question, yes that crossmember and suspension will work.
Personally I wouldn't bother with anything less than a '73-'87 crossmember and suspension. Going that route, you could be back on the road in 2 weekends with disc brakes. Then do your tubular control arms, bags and spindles later on. With either crossmember you will have to cut the front engine mount bracket off of your original crossmember and weld it to the new crossmember.

Re: Need some help
Do they not make tubular control arm kits for 60-62 that fit disc spindles? I ask because the only reason to change the crossmember is for brakes and that's because the spindles, if you're getting tube arms I'm sure you're getting a spindle that will fit disc brakes no problem... Sounds like a lot of work for nothing?

Re: Need some help
Don't think anyone makes them for 61 due to torsion bar suspension.
