Re: Need help.
Hey Glenns66. I'm no expert, but I have a 66 4x4 Burb also. Mine currently has a 292 but I found a 66 327 I'm gonna upgrade to once I have it rebuilt. There are a couple sites. Outintheshop.com is a start. Depending on how original you want your build to be, some casting numbers were for cars and some for trucks. They were also specific to either automatic or manual tranny version pairings with engines. Post some pics of your truck. AC was a rare option. In dash or under dash version?

Re: Need help.
if I remember right , 327 was only available in the camper special 3/4 ton in 66, basically all 60-66 light duty trucks with a v8 were a 283. maybe some were special ordered with a 327 , but if that could be done , those trucks are pretty few and far between.
your best period correct engine will be the 283, 292 was available, but I wouldn't even want to try to source the air conditioning equipment for that, the sbc stuff will be hard enough.

I still think the 283 would be the more common easier build, but maybe a 327 would work if you can find one....

Re: Need help.
I'm trying to put in the right motor for the year. Which is a 66 4x4 with factory ac. What would you need for the 65 if I change my mind?

Re: Need help.
1966 was the first year with the 327 as a factory option from my research.
