Do 90's k1500 6 lug wheels fit a 60-66 C10?

That's my question. I am looking to possibly buy an old truck bed trailer made out of a 60-66 back half, and the tires are totally shot. I have a '95 suburban I could swipe the wheels/tires off of for an afternoon to pick it up, but I don't know if they would fit. Anybody know for sure?

I am fairly sure I recall them working when I borrowed a set from a buddy, when I thought I was going to have to move my panel out of the garage. I think the biggest problem was the factory studs were a little on the short side for the later model wheels, so there wasn't more than half of the nut threaded on. I was only going to roll it out of the garage, so no problem. I don't think I would have driven on it.

Re: Do 90's k1500 6 lug wheels fit a 60-66 C10?

Thanks for the input chevy_mike. I was worried about the lug pattern, center hole size, and back spacing, but hadn't even considered the stud length. I wouldn't worry about the short studs if it was just down the street, but this thing is a 125 miles from me. Maybe I better come up with a plan B. Or plan C, because I think B is just multiple tubes of slime.

Were the stock 6 lug rims on a '60-66 15"? All of my '66 stuff is 3/4 ton, so I'm not 100% familiar with the half ton parts. I am actually only wanting to buy this janky old trailer for it's tailgate and front bed panel, to replace the rusted/mangled ones on my 3/4 ton. But, I digress...

Yeah, you can use any steel wheel off a '60-'70 1/2 ton, 2WD and I believe '71-'87 1/2 ton, 4WD.

The '88-'98 factory 6 lug wheels are the 6 x 5.5" pattern, but the center hole is too small for the '87 and earlier axles and the back spacing is deeper.

coloarado/canyon rims have the right center bore. a couple cheap spares would get you home.

Great, thanks for the info fellas! I talked the seller last night, and I'm supposed to pick this beauty up Saturday morning. New yard art is exciting.

Looks like a '66. (back up lights). Looks to be in good shape also, good score. Another one just popped up in town here this past weekend, with a slide in camper in it. They were asking $1300 for the whole package, $1000 for just the camper. I'm keeping my eye on it. Don't see one of these for years, then all of the sudden they are everywhere.

Re: Do 90's k1500 6 lug wheels fit a 60-66 C10?

Yeah I figured it was about a '66 because of the backup lights, or what's left of them. Seems like they might have been an option in 64 and 65 as well, but I can't remember where I read that. I swear Ottawa KS has more truck bed trailers per capita than any other place in the country! We must have seen half a dozen of them from the '60s-'80s in the seller's neighborhood. He was asking $300 but I talked him back toward earth and settled on $225 since all I was really interested in was the tailgate and I had to drive so far to pick it up. Super nice old fella. I figured this way I get a 'new' tailgate for my truck, and with a little plywood and tinkering, a good sturdy trailer to boot.

That camper rig sounds interesting. The old pull behind camper in the background of my pics is a 13 footer I bought for $300 a few years ago. I gutted it, completely lined it with plastic, covered the windows with furnace filters and two box fans, and use it as a paint booth for parts/panels/etc. It works great!

The camper rig must have been interesting to someone because this morning it was gone.

So it has been said the 88-98 6 lug won't fit because the center hole is too small. What about a 99-06 6 lug wheel? I just need to get one on a trailer and back off. Will they work? Thanks.

I think it is the same problem with the center hole being to small.

Re: Do 90's k1500 6 lug wheels fit a 60-66 C10?

I have used an 88-98 wheel for just this purpose. No, it did not fit properly and no I would not drive anywhere at any speed, but it did go on far enough to get a few threads on the lug nuts and worked well enough to roll on and off a trailer. Caveat Emptor.
