Shortbed questions
So there are a lot of things that people do not address when doing a shortbed conversion. The exhaust, e-brake cable, wiring, driveshaft. Anyway the question I have is the E-brake cable. It's obviously 12 inches too long. What is the best way or what is the best product to get to replace it to fit a shortbed? I got the exhaust covered, and the wiring. but what about the cable? thank you guys!

Re: Shortbed questions
A cable clamp should cost less than a dollar. a couple of those should do the trick. Jim

Re: Shortbed questions
Have the drveshatf shortened and balanced by a pro. Don't do it like the hacks on tv.

Re: Shortbed questions
I bought a new intermediate parking brake cable from Oreilly auto parts for my 72 swb stepside due to the original being frayed. Paid around $15 and they had to order it. The one LMC listed for my truck was about 6" too long.
My truck is an original swb but when I bought it it had no engine or Trans. Originally a 350/350 truck. I installed a 350/700r4. I used a one piece driveshaft out of a mid 80's swb c10 that originally had a 700r4. Fit like a glove! |

Re: Shortbed questions
The stock intermediate cable for a swb is 94 7/8" long. Rock auto has a ton of them and you can see all the lengths. That's where I get mine.
For example a swb with rear disc needs a shorter cable. I used one from a 72 Rivera and it was perfect. AC DELCO part #18P5. My point is you can measure your current cable and see about where you need it to be.. then cross reference and get exactly what you need.
