SPID/RPO questions.
I have been on here multiple times with SPID questions as to options and all of that, but I did a search and found a page full of 1968 C10 RPO codes. I was wondering where can I find these RPO codes on my truck, if they even exist, and if so, are they just another way to show the options on the SPID, or are they in a separate location? Thanks everyone!

Re: SPID/RPO questions.
They are on the SPID. There are usually extra digits though. If you have RPO U63 you may see it as 4U63BA. So you are only concerned with the 2nd, 3rd and 4th digits.
If you find the original build sheet your RPO's will be on there too. It will be found wherever the GM plant worker put it, under the seat springs, behind the seat springs, under the carpet/mat, taped behind the cab, behind the gas tank mat, etc. Sometimes you will find more than one. Many times you won't find any.

Re: SPID/RPO questions.
Thank you! that cleared up my questions except for one thing I've asked in the past, but can't remember the answer to lol, my truck is a 68' c10 with a factory v8, however there is not anything on the SPID saying what it had. Why is that?

Re: SPID/RPO questions.
Also a completely unrelated question, did 67-72 chevys or gmcs ever offer the 305E as a factory option? I see plenty with them but I can't find a source saying wether or not they came with them, mainly because I want to search for a factory 67-72 with a 305E to buy if possible.

Re: SPID/RPO questions.
If your vin has an "E" as second digit and there is no optional motor on the spid, then it was a 307 originally. And the 305 was a GMC only option. Not sure last year it was offered, but I'm thinking 69 or 70. Believe 351 was optional too

Re: SPID/RPO questions.
That's right. The VIN for a V8 starts out CE, for an I6 it starts out CS, and a GMC with V6 will start out CM. If a CE had a 350 or 396, if a CS had a 292, and if a CM had a 351 it will be listed on the SPID as an option. If nothing on the SPID a CE is a 307, a CS is a 250, and a CM is a 305
