Re: new 1969 suburban

this truck is my fathers. he lives with us now, because he is sick with stage 4 lung cancer and this was his bucket list, to get another fast truck on the road. we saw this, drove it, he paid cash for it. it is fast, for sure.

Re: new 1969 suburban

well , doing things to fix it up and make it safer to drive, at the moment the steering column had been tampered with and there is no blinker lever, the break lights didn't work either. getting that fixed today hopefully. this suburban has the 454 in it, my other 68 c10 is getting a 496 stroker put in it and the 72 suburban is having a new crate 350 put in it.

Well , dad got to drive this truck 3 times before he died on Saturday, on Halloween. Dammit, I am now going to be on a mission to turn this into a show truck for him. In his honor.

sorry to hear about your father, hope he got to enjoy the suburban while he was alive... I was wondering where this was, I built this sub a long time ago... glad to hear the motor still runs good, it was the fastest revving big block I had ever owned...looks like the air ride is off the burb? that's what I wish I had done instead of selling it, but needed money more than the burb at the time...enjoy

I wouldn't buy a k&n cold air for it, just build your own cowl induction seal to the hood

Re: new 1969 suburban

this truck caught on fire last night because of someone yanking stereo equipment and leaving hot wires hanging under the dash, slimbailess, can you tell me the internal details of the motor? cam size, all those goodies? the guy i got it from didn't know much about it.

Re: new 1969 suburban

no, far from totaled, i got it put out quickly, it was the coating around the wires that caught fire and melted. i removed the damaged wires and electrical tape wrapped anything that was worn or damaged, until i can get a new wiring harness.

edelbrock performer cam and intake, flattop pistons, had the motor balanced, high volume oil pump, double roller timing chain... 700r4 is supposed to have all the good parts installed in it... the headers were chevelle headers.. is the exhaust still tucked up inside the frame?

Re: new 1969 suburban

i do believe the exhaust is still up close to the frame. the insides are gutted and bare. no panels or liner anywhere.
