Hilarious CL ad for a 68
Been reading up a ton on this forum, as I am getting ready to buy my first vintage truck. There is an amazing amount of knowledge on this board!
Came across this today and couldn't help but laugh out loud towards the end of the first paragraph. Not my listing btw... http://portland.craigslist.org/clk/cto/5285523812.html |

Thanks for sharing. Nice looking truck. Too much money with it needing a re-paint IMO, but nice for sure.

Re: Hilarious CL ad for a 68
Would cost most guys twice that to build it from a fairly solid base. Seriously, that isn't a bad price at all for the average Joe who can't to body and paint work.

Re: Hilarious CL ad for a 68
I read this post about 20 minutes ago. Then was searching old posts to find an answer to something. Forum member "Brad" has this very truck as his avatar so I'm guessing it's his ;-)

Re: Hilarious CL ad for a 68
Yeah, that's Brad's truck allright, or at least a picture of the red truck in Brad's avatar. Even has the same big tree in the background, screen left. Judging by the tone of the text, it's Brad selling his own red truck.
I thought he had a '67 C/20 yellow longbed with a 250 L6, and T5 tranny, but that might be another truck of his... More than I'd pay for one either, but he's not selling to our crowd. We're the insiders. We know too much about these trucks and as a group are too stingy, being used to what parts and trucks went for back in the day... He wants a buyer with money, who wants to stand out from the usual Portlandian granola-crunching Prius punchers. More power to him. I hope he finds his buyer.

I couldn't have thought of a better response to the normal cl crap that comes with selling anything on there. Loved his fine print and the truck both a ton!

I don't know what you guys are talking about, that truck is worth every penny he is asking. His price doesn't seem out of line to me.

Re: Hilarious CL ad for a 68
Thanks for sharing. That's a very informative, hits all the important notes, honest well written listing with just the right touch of clever humor. It didn't double be over but it did make me grin and chuckle. That is one fine little hot rod truck I would buy and drive just as is. I think it's priced right at $17k. I don't know about the rest of you, but I think $15k when I read $17k and a well done great looking 67-72 shortbed will cost you that. Yeah yeah, "I got mine for $6995 and a milk goat". Good for you. We all hope to find that great deal and goat milk has a funny smell any way.

I agree, we all know that you can not build this truck anywhere near that amount of money even if yiu supply the labor. Just my .02 cents.

Re: Hilarious CL ad for a 68
Nice truck and funny ad. The price is high in my neck of the woods but in the seller's area that might be average. I sell a lot of stuff on CL and there are a lot of douchewaffles out there.
