It is amusing to me what people are willing to pay for NOS or rare parts to build these trucks but balk at a true survivor for an fraction of what it would take to build it otherwise. I will admit I would want it to be a factory BB truck tho.

Not to put a plug in here but my 79 454 with it's original paint and rust free is currently advertised at $12 obo and getting a fair amount of interest. There are those out there that appreciate a well preserved classic truck. Like it or not these 73-87 trucks are starting to gain in popularity as the 68-72's get out of reach for most people. They are all getting harder to find if you want a nice one still sporting original paint and largely unrestored. Most were abused and beaten.

I wouldn't flinch at $6k for a nice rust free survivor square body, and back east where these things literally rusted to pieces, a truck like this could easily fetch even more money. Like Gmachinz mentioned, you simply cannot build a nice truck for that kind of money, not when you start with some of the heaps I've seen running around. To help put things in perspective, body work and paint alone done at a professional level would be well over the cost of that truck. I restore classic cars for a living, it's not cheap to do and it's not getting cheaper either.

I think that's the 2nd Gentleman Jim I have seen pop on 67-72 trucks within a month. Or maybe it was EBAY... Anyway. It appears to be a survivor, and fairly clean. $6k is probably a fair price. Cleaned up, it would fetch more.

I have one in my garage. Was my dads, I learned to drive in it.
To me mine is priceless....
But that hasn't kept me from cutting it down to a short bed.

Have you all looked at the rest of the pictures in the add ?Both cab corners and the passenger side rocker are starting to show signs of rust.The interior is sun baked bad the fake wood on the gauge cluster is gone.The door panels are almost as bad up close.The engine bay has had some touch up paint and they painted over the sticker on the passenger side inter fender.

I love this idea. I had never thought of cutting mine down. I'd sure like it and drive it a lot more as a short bed. A later fuel door bed would also keep gas from running down the side every time I fill it up with those stupid vapor recovery nozzles too...

I've always wondered if the value on the Gentleman Jim's would come up enough to make them investment quality. Hasn't happened in the 13 years I've had mine...

Only thing that holds them back is its a long bed 2wd,If they came short bed or 4x4 the value of them would probably be a lot higher.

Hoping to get the word out as much as possible. I am in desperate search of my 75 GMC Gentleman Jim......it was given to me by my grandpa when I graduated and it was "stolen" from me somewhere around 2007. My gpa passed away from lung cancer and on the 1 year anniversary of his passing, I finally found the title to the truck that I thought was long gone.

Please, please, please help me find my truck. It would be amazing if I could get it back. Last I heard it was in Claremore, OK but I haven't had any luck. I do have the actual title and will drive wherever I have to go to get it or confirm/deny if i'ts the one.

If anyone has any suggestions, I am open to them or if you might know where to look. The DMV stated that it had not been reported crushed, no tags have been bought for it since they expired, and it hasn't been sold according to my title/VIN.

$3500, no engine. Looks rougher than the one the OP posted. I'm not in the market for a limited package GMC/Chevrolet, but they are cool and not making them anymore. $6000 is looking realistic if the Craigslist one can sell for $3500... Both appear to be true survivors.

Personally, I'd offer no more than $5k for the running one (minor rust) and <$2k on the "missing engine" one. I wonder what's holding up the transmission (if it has one)?

The first one posted probably had a pro detail job so it will bring more money.The 2nd one with no engine is probably in about the same shape just looks dirtier since they didn't even wash it.
