Parking brake
My parking brake doesn't work and hoping someone can instruct me how to adjust or fix it. It appears that everything is all there and maybe could be adjusted if anyone knows how to do that. Thanks in advance.

Just have to follow the path. Cable connected to lever? Cable connected under the cab? Slider moving under cab? Cables connected to slider? Cables connected to backing plates? Take drums off, check connections inside. Adjust...

Some more information on your truck will help. Assumption is you have a 63 GMC. Most all these adjust at the end of the cable coming from the handle. Like Jay said though you have to check it all to make sure it is good and in working condition before you can adjust it.

ive been fighting with mine, cant get enough adjustment to allow the pads to grab. Previously I only had about 3-4 clocks of the parking brake, and saw there saw still slack in the cables underneath. I then adjusted the nut on the end of the main cable and now I have 10 clicks but still not enough tension for the back brakes to grab. I changed rear pads, made sure the cables were attached, but still nothing
i think my cables might be strectched (if thats even possible). hopefully yours is easier to figure out. |

You need to first make sure the rear brakes are adjusted correctly and then run the nut in to take out what ever slack needed to get the handle to pull tight somewhere around half travel.
