64 C-10 horn honks when wheel is turned

I have the simple center cap button on the steering wheel. Lately it honks when I turn it in tight situations like getting out of a parking space. All is fine on the road. Can it be adjusted for spacing etc or does it sound like a short? thanks

TJ, the comedian.

akqj9,
I had a similar problem. Seems in my case the upper steering column bearing was not seated properly. These pictures may help. The upper bearing should push down inside the column far enough so it doesn't ride up. Otherwise it can create a short.

Thanks for the photos and tips. We are having a major storm (1/8" of rain) here in L.A. so I will need to wait a few days to try the fix...

Re: 64 C-10 horn honks when wheel is turned

It was pretty bad out there, some people got wet and I needed to activate special mechanical devices to push the water off my windshield. We have it bad in So Cal...
