how to remove body trim

I would like to remove that body trim that goes all the way around the truck.

What is the best way without damaging the paint?

Get a VERY sharp razor blade, and slowly work your way around the truck, don't pull too much on the molding or glue may take a chunk of paint with it.

After you get the molding off, a little paint thinner on a rag should help you wipe the excess glue off.

The moldings at the back corners below the taillights are screwed on, and you will have to take out your taillights to unscrew them, and then you are left with two screw holes on each back corner.

The tailgate molding is glued on in about 8 spots across the back, and should pop off with a little force, then you just need to carefully scrape off the glue and then use some thinner to wipe off the excess.

Their may be something better than paint thinner to remove the glue. Just remember, that you want to go slow if you don't want to harm your paint, and that when you remove the rear corners, you will have two small holes on either side that you would need to fill and paint...or you can leave the corners on...

paint thinner to remove the glue? you're dreaming! when i removed the trim from my 93, i used a piece from 3M that the snap on guy called a cheese wheel. basically a big eraser that attatches to a grinder, and just rubs the adhesive off.

I just took the good old grinder I'm repainting it all anyways, so I am not too worried about it.

Most of it should be off with the razor blade, if you're careful it comes off quite nice and barely leaves anything behind.

If you have access to a heat gun(blow drier), that's the best way. No chance on gouging the paint with a razor.

WD 40 will work too, but heat method works well too.
