55 lsx swap questions
Well I'm picking up my 6.0 this weekend.
Few questions. I have been reading a few build threads and want to ask. What are you guys seeing as favorite mounts? Prolly mounts? Solid? Front and mid plates? Also my chassis is a 95 s10 can you buy s10 swap stuff and it works ok or will I be moving it around a bit forward or backwards. Thanks. Posted via Mobile Device |

I would love to have a 6.0 but I haven't had much luck finding one. I don't know much about the S-10's but I wouldn't use Poly mounts and I sure wouldn't mount it solid. Hopefully some S-10 guys will chime in. I know Ray "Indian113" has done one. Sorry I couldn't be more help. LockDoc

Re: 55 lsx swap questions
A lot of cut (modification) will be needed to the crossmember so it will fit. Some do it right, some will do a hack job. I bought an LSX donor 5.3L and the chassis will be scrapped soon as the PO did a horrible job with the crossmember. I will post some pics in the am. Have you considered locating a new chassis for the swap? Like a >1990?

Re: 55 lsx swap questions
I got a message that I can't do edit after 30 minutes of posting a response.
So here goes my correction: A lot of cut (modification) will be needed to the crossmember so the engine will fit. Some do it right, some will do a hack job. I bought an LSX 1992 S10 donor 5.3L and the chassis will be scrapped soon as the PO did a horrible job with the crossmember. I will post some pics in the am. Have you considered locating a new chassis for the swap? Like a >1990? |

I have not thought of that chassis. I picked up a 1995 std can long bed cheap. Thought they where all really the same. 88 and 95 chassis.

Re: 55 lsx swap questions
Sorry, I meant picking up like a newer non-S10 truck chassis.

Re: 55 lsx swap questions
You know I never have. I always saw everyone using s10s chassis so I figured that is what was needed and worked. Never really seen one done on anything else.

Re: 55 lsx swap questions
The one in the pic is donor chassis of the S10 that came with the 5.3L. I kept my stock chassis (1972 GMC 3/4 ton) but I upgraded to 1989 C3500 brakes all around, rear differential and HD suspension.
