looking out of state

In doing some homework, preparing to purchase 67-72, it has occurred to me that I may need to look out of state for a good truck. That may mean having to purchase one without necessarily seeing it or being sure enough about a vehicle that it's worth a long trip to look at it. I suppose it would be easy if I were able to afford a certifiable "show quality" item but I'm more in the market for a "4" or "5" level (from Standrad Catalog). Any tips or suggestions on scoping things out long distance would be apprciated.

Thank you

Where are you from? Your location isn't in your profile under your name.

Get as many pictures as possible. Ask specific questions. Most everyone on this board is honest. But remember a 10 to someone else may only be an 8 to you. In the pictures, look for rust in common areas. Decide up front what you are looking for and what your willing to spend. Trucks vary in price depending on region. Look to the west and south for rust free original trucks. Post what your looking for and ask people to respond. Take your time and good luck.

You could ask someone on this board if they are close to the truck you are looking at.Ask the owner for pics.Go to www.cctol.com they have a service that advertises with them that will look at a vehicle and do a check on it for you.Starts at $350 I think.Where are you located?

Arizona has tons of trucks. Send a PM to Desert Rat, and maybe look around for other members who are from Arizona...

True enough AZ and the west is the place to be. I haven't been looking very long and mostly in things like "Truck Trader." I'm surprised at the number of people with ads out there that don't return calls! The state is big (OK not like Texas) I'd only go to a place like Tucson or Yuma county or a state or two over if I thought I had a pretty sure thing out there. If I lived in the Northwest, I'd probably think "This guy's pretty jaded!" Appreciate your response!

Gerry, are you in Phoenix? I don't think you need to go far to find a decent truck. I see 10-20 of them a day. Good luck.
