Last bit of warm weather: what are you getting done?

Here in WV, this is probably the last bit of good weather before winter comes. I am finally getting my grill top coated in "argent silver."

What are you guys getting done to your trucks?

Automatic transmission swap. I was going to wait until spring to do it but I already gathered all the parts. Now the weather has been so nice that I decided to get it done. It's too crammed in my garage so I'm doing it in the driveway.

Re: Last bit of warm weather: what are you getting done?

With the "last bit of warm weather" here in Arizona we actually kick it in high gear. Finally made it through another hot a** summer. About 5 months of perfect weather coming. Yeah. Now that I have finished bragging.
I am hoping to finish my 68 dually build completely. Hoping to get back on my 67 Nova drag car and get it where I can take it to the track. And, if I sell my Chevelle I will start doing my 63 GMC S.B. fleetside.

HA! same here. Gotta tear apart the driver's side door to fix the regulator. Also want to redo the capture nuts on both door panels. Also going to re-wrap the wiring with Classic Braids from Painless. Fun stuff.

Re: Last bit of warm weather: what are you getting done?

Just playin with this stepper.
This morning the kid an I hit up a flea market and I picked up a few items. But anyway I finally got every lite working I needed license plate lites (2new ones at the flea market $1apiece).
They were done first.
Then I crawled under an put a reverse switch in the granny 4.
That got them workin.
Then I tackled the job of re wiring the alt.
Since the motor was replaced with a lwp motor so the alt is on the wrong side and the po. had a nasty mess of wire too reach over there. I used a old hacked harness and soldered the wires to run across the core support back too the battery then over too the alt.
Looks much better now and not a fire hazard.
In doing the last thing tightening the alt belt I snapped the bolt on the alt...ugh.
Out came the alt welded a nut onto the bit of bolt left it took me four nuts but finally got it out.it was really in there.
As the sun set I continued to rinse some of the farm mud off the underside of it.(hope that was mud)
Then I took it for a ride around the back roads for a bit.
Now I getting ready to replace the float on a sending unit.for the other.
All fun fun fun.
Tomarrow we pull wheels on the stepper and check out the brake stuff.
The fella told me the brakes didn't work but the kid put fluid in an we haven't had a problem with them once it had juice. probably bleed them tommarow I'm sure it'll help.
How's that for getting sumtin done.

It's close to 70deg here and I just got the hood to cowl seal from Wes at Heartbeat. Had to drop everything else and install !! Thought for awhile it was gonna put me down, but removed the cowl after trying other methods! It fits good and let it snow!

Good to hear. I need that weatherstrip replaced too.

Can you hit us with pics on how you did that screen under your cowl?

Re: Last bit of warm weather: what are you getting done?

I did not do a photo build. Was not worthy of the time. Basicly laid the Gutter screen down and used a sheet metal shears to cut it around the wipers. the washer nozzles made me do it twice because of the put it over the nozzle and slide foward.I'm not a real fabricator. But I slept at Holiday in Express. HA! LOL!

Re: Last bit of warm weather: what are you getting done?

I got the nose job done last weekend:

I just wanted to redo my drip rail and replace the rear window/seal but found some very unwanted rust.

There was about +/- 15-20 pinholes I drilled out and filled in. Came out pretty good. I also used my new stud gun and pulled out a couple dents! Instead of 1/8-3/16" of filler in those spots, should just be a skim coat. First time using it, was pretty easy.

I got the DS drip rail all repaired and new sealant but I still have to do the PS (much cleaner/better than DS!) and above the windshield, get it primed and repainted white, but the weather keeps being crap. It's rained like 3 of the past 5 weekends (like, ALL weekend fri-sun) and they're calling for rain all freakin' weekend again.

I've been at this same point for about a month.

'Preciate it!

This is her 3rd makeover in 18 years

Some of you would be shocked to know I owned a truck that long and drove it stock height all that time!

In all honesty... it rode better stock. The drop is OK, but definitely a little "bouncier" and a bit more "stiff" than before. But still, not a huge difference, just enough to notice it.

Re: Last bit of warm weather: what are you getting done?

Don't worry, this winter will be milder for us in the Mid-Atlantic, I promise. I'm trying to get time to finish up the 4" lift, and general service/freshen-up on my '72. Got things painted that need paint and most of it together. Almost ready to bolt the aluminum slots on and roll it! Once the salt hits the road (got through December last year) I'm considering going ahead with the engine rebuild. If I can buy the 383 kit I will pull the engine and start. I'm sure I can pull the rest of the funds together as needed.

I hope your rite.
Here dang near all the trees are bare, nothing but all black cattapillers (you know what they say about them).
And everything I hear says a bad winter ahead.
It shouldn't be so bad though if fuel prices stay down.

I got frustrated last nite 3 floats and they all have holes.

Re: Last bit of warm weather: what are you getting done?

I put leaves and wood aside this month to try and get my dam truck on the road before it snows. I'm getting very close but still far from done. Been getting a lot of work done on it, replaced wheel bearings yesturday and painted rally's, also coated my bed with rhino liner, gotta finish up installing newly rebuilt vent windows and get all my gauges working and maybe just maybe I'll be able to take it down to the gas station for the first time!

Pressure washing the project trucks before putting them in dry storage While it's still warm here , pulling engines for winter rebuilds , selling extra parts and building new door panels and seats for the 67 short bed that's almost done .

Re: Last bit of warm weather: what are you getting done?

I cut down 7 trees, 2 big maples, and bought 4 cords cut & split, so about 7 cord all together, have around 2 cords left to stack. Did one leave clean up and will have at least one more. The next thing will be to get the snow blower on the tractor and check it out. Then maybe I'll have some time for the truck !!!

Re: Last bit of warm weather: what are you getting done?

Just rebuilt this OEM slider for use in the GMC. The existing (old) gasket around the aftermarket (old) slider leaks so thought I'd rope in this OEM piece before the temps drop further. First freeze is expected tonight.
