Alternator Bolt Size/First Post

Hey guys, just want to start by thanking you in advance for any help that i can get. This is my first post(first of many to come) and usually i can find my info somewhere out there on the web, but this seems to escape me so maybe you guys can help.

I bought a Chevy performance 100 watt alternator and i can't seem to figure out the size of the bolt that goes in the top(smaller) hole.

Thanks again,

Joe

Re: Alternator Bolt Size/First Post

Nice alternator! I don't know about that one ,but a regular alternator takes 5/16 thread size bolt. Hopefully that new one isn't metric!

Re: Alternator Bolt Size/First Post

As Redline pointed out, the old originals were 5/16. I bet if you have a new aftermarket alternator it is going to be metric. Just run in to the local parts store with it, they can fix you up.
