Rustiest best 50$ deal ever

Picked up this 77 sport last month. I chained the truck down like I usually would but it took 7 straps to hold the body to the frame after that!

I got 4 nice rallies with rings and gmc caps, the red dash, red rubber floor mat, vinyl seat were mint, tilt column. I also got the sport light bar with harness and switch(maybe hard to come by), a tach dash, and a 12 bolt(unknown ratio, haven't looked yet). And some other bits

Frame and body were wasted but the exhaust was almost usable. Haha
Pics on their way (wish I took more as always)

It had a foot of leaves in it. Windows down part way. It was registered last in 87 I figure it sat since then.

The bar/switch/harness are very rare.COPO 9J9.
Did it have the SPID sticker;also the build sheet may be under the seat.
GM vintage can do a build report and tell you where it was sold new.
I have a 77 but it is a black stepside.

Re: Rustiest best 50$ deal ever

The spid was faded bad enough that could not be read I looked for the sheet but wasn't there The front clip was off for a lot of years Looks like the clip was pulled to swap motor or something and never put back together. I think it had 70 or 80k on it. The steering was tight an the brake pads were like new. Rusted up. Was a nice truck in its day

Do you know if the front bumper with the rubber pads was a sport thing? I think I have seen them in suburbans but I do not remember seeing them on trucks of these years

The 78 thru " 81 Chevy Sport "came standard with a body colored bumper with impact strips.

The 76 and 77 came with chrome bumpers;the impact strips were an option.

You would need the original SPID or the GM option sheet to verify.

We have trucks going thru Whitecourt ...I used to build aluminum jet boats and lots of my customers are up there.

Re: Rustiest best 50$ deal ever

I am not sure I can sell? Or is it I cannot advertise for sale? Sorry I did not read the selling buying code of conduct there. I didn't intend to sell anything. I will for sure look at it. I would just as soon trade or barter than sell. I more than enough got my money out of the truck, and I'm not a greedy person anyways. I did offer to him first but let's see what happens

Too bad mother nature had her way with it,cool truck back in the day. There was a guy in high school that had a similar one like that around 1983. We didn't know at the time they would be collectable 30 some years later.

You need to be a supporting member to offer items for sale or trade. If you do decide to subscribe, all items for sale should be posted in the Classified Forums.
