I have a 71 suburban that I just bought. Before anyone starts in on it being a 4x4 it wasn't originally 4wd the last owner put 1 ton suspension lift and 33s with a monster 454. The best part is zero rust. Now I'm looking for some help and ideas from you guys. Some of the things on my todo list are:

1. Drop it thinking 3/5 drop or c-notch and go 4/6. But I'm worried about ride quality.
2. Hide spare tire hole. Make into a compartment.
3. Wanting to replace the wood floor with metal. I will need a lot of idea on how to do this one.
4. Put my ls1 eng out of my vette in it.

Please send some pictures of your rides and/or ideas for some inspiration. I will post pics as soon as I figure out how to do it on my iPad.

Keep it 4x4

IMHO, low Suburbans have been overdone. Been there, done that.

Bro, if you are considering dropping it etc. I think you'd be happier starting out with a 2wd. The point of the 4x4 being up is for clearance Clarence.Anoff road would love to have that rig. You could probably flip it in summer and cover a 2wd and some of the mods you have in mind. Another option is pulling the front clip and going to a 2wd front clip which has more options for lowering, etc. Just my humble .02

If you decide to sell the 4x4 stuff I might be interested. I have a bare 3/4 ton 4x4 truck chassis I'm scrounging parts for. Dunno if the one ton axels would be too wide or have too low of a ratio though.

This started as a 2wd and the previous owner put this suspension under it. It still has the 1/2 ton 2wd cross member in it. I have a few SWB Chevy pickups so I have all the parts to make it back into a 2wd.

Cool burb! I saw this on WA CL and thought it looked like a solid project. Personally I love the look it has now and would love a 4x Burb, but as you stated it started out as a C series, so no harm done.

My vote is to keep it 4x4.
If you don't like 4x4's, then sell it and get a 2x4.

Personally I think the 4x4's are more special, and they are worth more money in the end. But, then I am very biased...

Yeah keep it 4x4, sell it and buy a 4x2 if you would rather drop it. Ou would be better starting with an already 4x2.
