78 sm465 205 in a 71 Suburban

Well i was wondering if i could swap my 78 sm465 205 into my 71 auto suburban? Can i use the pedals and clutch linkage?

The trans/bell housing/tcase are fine, but you will most likely have to re position the cross member. Might even need to compare an AT cross member to the MT cross member?

Different drive shaft lengths.

The pedals, I would get out of a 67-72 MT truck.

Check for a Z bar bracket on the frame, and check for a provision in the engine block for a pivot ball stud just above the oil filter.

Finally, I have seen AT trucks that the engine crank did not have a hole for a pilot bearing. So beware.

my 71 suburban has an sm 465 and it is factory ,pretty sure the years dont differ.
