solid side glass conversion- help
New to this forum. Read all the posts I found. Still need to know how to go about converting to a solid glass. Mine has 4 sliders in very poor condition. Do I need to use the frames? If I buy the gasket from Steele does the glass slip into it and then rope it in to the opening like a windshield? The lips around the quarter glass openings look too shallow for that type of installation. Can someone tell me step by step what they did and what parts they used? Thanks in advance.

Re: solid side glass conversion- help
For the rearward sliding windows you can get new/used glass and the repro gasket. It ropes in like you mention. None of the slider assembly is re-used.
For the forward sliders there was no factory solid glass option, so no glass is readily avaiable and no gasket either. Rearward glass & gaskets are NOT the same as the forward ones. There have been people out there who have done the solid conversion but it's all custom work. |

Re: solid side glass conversion- help
So the same rubber and same size window glass fits the front windows if im converting to solid glass from sliders? Ive read a bunch of contradicting statements regarding this conversion. According to Steelrubber, the same gasket fits front and rear and in return, is the glass the same size?
