anybody use solid motor and tranny mounts?

truck is weekend driven, mild build no heads yet (waiting on the shelf to be installed) but I've always wondered about solid mounts. had a few mustangs in the past and seems like power is lost in the mounts, any suggestions.

I have solid mounts in my '69 Camaro and they make you feel every single thing in the car. I constantly have parts rattling off my car and need regular re-tightening. I really would never do it again, but with a big block and large tube headers, I couldn't afford the engine movement with the headers sitting so close to my power steering box

I stayed with a poly tranny mount though, just so there is some help with keeping the vibration down a little. I have also read time and time again, that solid tranny mounts are a real bad idea

No power is lost in the mounts. Torque through a rubber band is same on the other end, just delayed.

Solid mounts suck and there are numerous reasons you don't want to live with them. Don't do it, Len.

Drag race truck... yes.

DD/weekend cruiser... no. Unless you love the feel of vibrating mechanical parts.

I can't speak for Mustangs, but it isn't power loss that is the main concern with drag racing, its ripping out the rubber bushing, and deflection of the bushings that cause the biggest issues with high power engines.

Solid mounts are for serious applications, not the occasional drag-raced DD. There's power lost in MANY other places that can be upgraded to make your $ feel like it's making a difference.
