Seems like some one would have already done something like this, ie a 73-87 C10 rear in a early 60's C10 (Given the fact that the front brakes and suspension are swapable, I would think the 73-87 rear diffs would have the same width/tracking as earlier rears) Am I way off? |

The Yukon axle is wider than the stocker if you plan on running staggard wheels that's not a problem you can just correct this with a custom offset.
You will need to cut all the old mounts off and just weld new ones on. |

Re: have any of you guys swapped to a newer rear end?
I have been wondering the same thing. I have a 2006 gmc pickup with a 4.8 vortec and entire drive train. the doner 06 is actually a complete pickup so I can use anything from the pickup I want.
what all will be easily transferable to my 68 c-10 short wide? of course I will use the motor and trans. but have wondered if I will be able to use the rear end and all of its component or not? anyone know the width difference in the newer rear end? can I adapt the brake system from the 06 to my 68? |

Re: have any of you guys swapped to a newer rear end?
i imagine the braking system can be made to fit. i would have to replace the lines and prop valve and master cyl to accomodate the rear disk.
but any idea how much wider the rear end than my 67? I had shoulder surgery so crawling under my truck right now with a measure tape is out of the question for a couple more weeks. Im running 15x10 in the rears with my og 67 rear end. im thinking an inch or two wouldnt really hurt me much. i put disk in the front so that popped out my front tires about 1.75"
