Thanks for nothing Classic Parts!! I can't believe that you can even sell this crap with a straight face. Is there any quality grills out there? This is a show truck, so the quality needs to be high. Please members, help with advise. Thanks

You can't buy aftermarket for those grilles if it's a show truck. You're going to need NOS/early takeoff/nice original. Classic parts probably never even had it out of the box. These places are just resellers.

Re: 1969 replacement grill is junk!!

The last time that thing was seen before you was a long boat ride an the opposite side of Earth. All they do is lay it in the box against cardboard. Or, it was damaged at the plant and the worker just tossed it in the box anyway. I mean, really, what's to stop them when they know there's nothing to do about it from a different continent?

You can get a good repro grille, but it's a crap shoot on shipping damage. Just return it and demand another till you get a good one. Maybe these American companies who enjoy the increased profit margin on products sold for no less will get sick of it and bring jobs back to America.

Have you called Classic Parts about a replacement? I bought a grill for my '72 there a couple weeks ago and it was perfect. Classic Parts is normally pretty good about stuff like this?

Definitely call and talk to Classic Parts. As noted, they are just a reseller, but they have stood behind their parts for me in the past.

Re: 1969 replacement grill is junk!!

I appreciate the feedback. It is the finish that is all jacked up. Also the flimsy craftsmanship is less than desirable. When you pick up the original, and then the reman, there is no comparing the two. I just received it yesterday, and was all pumped to get to work. I plan on calling classic parts as soon as they are open again. I think I'll be asking for a refund instead of a replacement. Real disappointed in the quality of this product.

That is what you will find with most of the repop stuff. Its all made overseas.

If you do some hunting there are very nice original grilles out there, but they can be spendy

Exactly why I spent $350.00 and drove to and from Maryland to get my original outer grill polished.

*On the way back I hit a bear, so there is that repair bill to add in.

The lettered grill is something Counterparts is having made. Key Parts is in the process of having a lettered 69-70 grill made but the new tooling is not done yet.

Re: 1969 replacement grill is junk!!

I tell you brother, with all the trouble my OEM grill has been, I think I am going to save up and stash away at least one other good OEM or NOS inner and outer grill for that next bear I come across.

*Hit bear with my car though, not the truck.

Re: 1969 replacement grill is junk!!

Just got my repop 69 grill and the finish was fine but the black painted part was hilariously bad. Black spray paint halfway in the letters some not painted at all. Obviously it can be fixed but man they didnt even try on this thing.

Re: 1969 replacement grill is junk!!

Crap will continue to be the rule for aftermarket parts until a determined maker emerges stateside that turns out quality. When that maker takes over and controls the market, then the large Asian makers will take notice and at least attempt a better product.

The free market produces lasting wealth, period.

Any idea if the Key Parts one will have the black grooved lines that extend all the way out to the headlight buckets like the original assembly line installed grills did?

I got the same one from them a few years ago and it's perfect. I've always had good luck with Classic Parts, much better than many of the other 'catalog' vendors. Definitely give them a call and least give them a chance to fix it, if they don't, THEN come back and blow them up here.
