Tail pipes on lowered trucks question.

I have lowered mine 5/7 ish and was wondering if any of you guys have had kickback from your muffler shops about running the tail pipes over the rear axle.

A good shop should be able to do this no problem. There is less room for tubing in the back of an import hatchback. The truck, by comparison, is s-p-a-c-i-o-u-s.

I have mine coming out before the rear wheels and mine is 5/6

I have nearly a 7/9 drop on mine and was still able to run 2 3/4 tail pipes up and over the axle with no problems.

Dont mean to hi jack but it is related,

I`m planning to lower my truck correctly and fix the PO hack job. I`m just going to do a flip kit in the rear and drop spindles up front with a 2" drop spring for a 4.5/6 drop. I`m planning on running this exhaust,

No idea on that summit system but here's a look at mine. TONS of room.

I had a 6" rear drop in my '73 with 3" exhaust...it went over the axle and around the rear fuel cell no problem.

I'd love to see pics of the 7/9 drop...seems excessive unless you have removed the inner front/rear fenders or heavily modified the frame/suspension

My concern is the Hooked kit may be bent differently than a custom set up and won't clear.

No I've never had a exhaust shop give me a hard time. Sounds like a bad shop.

Is this a custom set or did you buy it pre fabbed?

Do you have any shots of how you routed the pipes after the rear axle? Mine looks like I might have to come thru the spring and back and then down.

Mine dump right in front of the axle.

I flipped the back of mine, 78 short step, with an aftermarket muffler. i wanted the pipe to come out the back, under the bumper, the muffler guy suggested it come out to the side, in front or in back of the back tire, but i said, naw...so he ran it out the back, under the bumper...the very back of the pipe might be a little flattened, but nothing serious that would affect flow.

You might get some flack from you muffler shop if they have to do any cut, fit and weld on that Aluminized pipe ! You can do it with slip fits and using a MIG welder .

I did remember that the metal brake line gets in the way of the right pipe, I've just bent it up parallel with the top of the frame rail.
