Salvage Yard find 84 Chevy Seat & other parts

Found a 84 Chevy Diesel at a local salvage yard. The seat looks very dirty, but I'm going to use the steam carpet extractor on it. I'm pretty sure it will come clean. Couldn't believe it was just sitting there in the truck. Other than being filthy, it looks to be in very good condition. Most of them you see, the fabric is all torn up. I don't need the seat myself, but I couldn't see just leaving it there.

I've got an old 86 with same style seat, it was an old farm truck, those old seats like that could take a beating, mine looks new to this day. How was the dash pad? Thats what I need, that and a good driver side tank. Mine had that plastic cover over it, and dirt got up inside it, and rusted a hole in the bottom.

The dash pad was all cracked. I would have saved it too, if it was in good shape.

Heck yeah, that's a good seat just dirty. Bissell carpet cleaner should get that thing looking sweet.

I use a bucket of hot water with about a 1/4 of a can of Comet and a generous amount of Dawn, then use a stiff bristle tire scrubber and work it into the material. Be sure to saturate the seat first with regular water, then scrub scrub scrub! That seat will come out looking like new. I use a pressure washer to rinse my seats out-its amazing what you canbget out!

The carpet steam extractor seems to have done the job. I have a professional unit, since I detail cars on the side.

You lucky sob that came out great. All the seats I see in wrecking yards are torn to shreds and made into homes for mice. If only it was black.. I've got bad experience dying seats. Nice score

I found one for myself this past summer and had it reupholstered.

I'm going to sell this seat, got it listed in the parts section. Get in reupholstered to the colors and fabric of your choice. Or get a new cover from LMC

Re: Salvage Yard find 84 Chevy Seat & other parts

I was at the junkyard a few weeks ago to pickup seat tracks, and the seat I got the tracks off of was MINT, except the seam on the seat was torn away a little. I should have bought it...
