Truck covers
Looking to buy a new cover for my 64 SWB fleet. After purchasing one that was the "correct" size, I'm looking for input on what you guys are using that actually fits. The cover I bought was a large, claimed it was for a truck, yet is so small I can barely get it over all four corners.
What's everyone using? Happy with it? I'm looking to keep dust off the truck in a heated/covered garage more than anything...often my garage becomes a sawmill in the winter. |

Re: Truck covers
I have pics and the part # in my build. I used an ebay cover for a midsize SUV (like a lexus RX). Its the dust-cover type, not an outdoor storage cover or anything. Fits snugly on the front and rear, and its the right height so it doesn't drag or leave the wheels fully uncovered.
I opted for an SUV cover instead of a pickup so I can store extra's and in-process project parts in it and make extra use of my garage space.

Re: Truck covers
I've also been considering a cover even though I park mine inside also.

Re: Truck covers
I need an extra heavy duty cover that is built for outside.
I have 5 trucks to cover and protect from the desert sun and winter rain.. ... tired of cleaning up sun baked junk tarps from harbor freight.. Any suggestions?

Re: Truck covers
If a car cover scratches paint.. I'd say the paint is low quality. ..
I'm looking to cover in process trucks not completed

Re: Truck covers
Have you tried california car cover? A neighbor has one for his mustang that seems to be working nicely.
http://www.calcarcover.com/c_carcove...Car%20Cover/1/ You can select different materials depending on your needs. A bit more pricey than the walmart specials but IMO you get what you pay for.

Re: Truck covers
I've had a Noah version of the California Car Cover on my $100k show car for 9years, it's super soft and breathes, no scratches. Little spendy but it's nearly 10years old. And first year and a half it was on the car outside under carport.

Buy-it-Now for $23.95. I'm not surprised it fell apart.

Re: Truck covers
Your not supposed to select 1966, you need to read my posts above. The cover is for a midsize SUV from the 2000's. I've had mine for 2 years, and nothing has happened to it.
Its a dust cover, for storing vehicles in the winter. If you try to put it on a car outdoors as weather protection, thats foolish. You need a boat-style cover for that, which has UV and weather protection...those usually have flannel insides and a thicker gore-tex or pvc type exterior....and yeah, those cost $100+

Re: Truck covers
The el cheapo looks perfect for keeping dust off of it in the garage - and it looks like it fits great! Thanks for linking to the thread. If that was 2012, and you're still recommending the thing in 2015 it must be holding up OK. And luckily for me, I don't have a show truck...with a 20 footer, any cover will work just fine.
It just saves tons of time having the truck covered after you clean it. It's amazing how quickly things collect dust in a shop environment. |
