steering column trim
have a 2003 GMC 3500 and need to remove the lower steering column trim so I can replace the shift lever with tow/haul mode. removed the two screws I found on the bottom but it still won't drop down, how do you separate the top from the bottom plastic so it doesn't break are there little tabs that hook the 2 pieces together or do you just need to pry it apart?

Re: steering column trim
Some columns don't even have the screws in them. First pull out the tilt lever it just snaps straight out. Then the lower trim is hooked into the upper trim with little snaps at the wheel side then there is a hinge on the dash side after you unsnap the lower trim then you can unhinge it to remove the bottom piece.
All of this is so much easier with the steering wheel removed but it is not needed. Jim |
