Re: I Wish... J10

I screwed up about 2years ago and sold a VERY clean 74 J10...now its been cut up, has tube chassis and linked front/rear...what a shame. Then I ended up selling my Wagoneer to the same guy!

I've got a '69 J3000 long bed I keep looking at. It's title challenged so I need to do a bonded title or something. But I have become a fan of the looks of the J trucks and especially the early ones with the different grill.

Yeah, an 8-lugger long bed is what I really want. You never saw many of those, or I didn't.

Re: I Wish... J10

My brother had a 78 Jeep CJ7 that had 8 lug wheels on it ,never seen another one like it and never knew if it came that way or if someone converted it .That was one tough Jeep and was hard on steering gears on the front but he put it through hell.

I love J trucks. Unfortunately they don't take kindly to the salt we put on the roads in the winter, so nice examples around here are rare.

It was converted. CJs came with 5 lug axles, J10/Cherokee/Wagoneer had 6 lug axles. I'm not sure if Jeep even had a 8 lug option on the J20.

Re: I Wish... J10

Yeah, I always liked the IH and Jeep trucks, but both were really bad on early rust and parts and I needed a practical daily driver. Now that these trucks are cherished classics I'd like to own some.

A Jeep J20 was 3/4 ton and yes they had 8 lug axles. I had one for years, I finally gave it to my cousin with over 250,000 miles on it and he continued to thrash it for a few more years before taking it apart to build a 60s J3000 stepside truck with it.

Re: I Wish... J10

I have a 69 gladiator. It's an 8 lug. Last year of the Buick 350 in jeeps. It's got the gladiator front end which IMHO is more jeep than the disco 70's front end.
White with a blue interior. I keep it in the shed I built for it and drive it once a month on the farm. After I restored it I never got around to register it (sticker on plate says 1990). After I pass on my kids will probably sell it...

Love these trucks too but really any 4wd from any make in survivor condition perks my ears.

Yeah, I love all things from the early 4wd era when trucks were built for utility. It's always been a dream of mine to own one each of the late-60s 3/4t 4wds

Re: I Wish... J10

they were one of the toughest trucks ive ever been in built like a tank.
my bud had one that was set up for trail rideing he would rub small trees and never dent the thing.

there is a plow shop down the road from me that collects these trucks i bet there has to be 50-75 of them back there.
i stopped by there looking for bucket seats(ya never know) and they were packed so tight i had to walk on bumpers most of the way.
most of them looked good.

Re: I Wish... J10

The second grille looks good, if you never saw the original. The truck was designed to have the narrow vertical grille all Willys & Jeep products shared. But the wide vertical grille makes for a tough looking truck, especially compared to the other brands.

A nice looking picture of an earlier one:

I love the look of this one, for modified:

Not many were Thriftsides. Here's a cool one. Throws them back into the Willys days:

This green paint totally ties this one back to it's Willys forefather:

Re: I Wish... J10

Always had a soft spot for these. Now jeep has some concept types of these that look really good. Google jeep chief, they even did the FC, Gladiator pickup and others. Out of all the retro comeback vehicles, Dodge/Chrysler did them the best, AKA Challenger.

Those concept vehicles are outrageously cool. I really want an FC some day and that modern version is coo-oo-ool
