Wiper transmission questions

Was driving my 66 burb last week in a DOWN POUR. I started to hear an unusual wiper noise that I knew would need attention soon. Soon was 30 minutes down the road. Passenger wiper arm went off windshield and jammed. I stopped and pushed it back and then had nothing on either side. I pulled the cowl and clip was off and pass side linkage was jammed into the center link. I am guessing my center link is REALLY bent. Is it suppose to be flat or have some offset? Thanks, Jim
