Re: Seat upholstery

Dielectricly sealed sounds like fancy talk for "melted together" ......like the seam on a pool toy...

Re: Seat upholstery

you can have most any local shop build whatever your looking for seat wise in hounds tooth with correct grain vinyl. SMS does scroll printing and it's not cheap about $85.00 on roll goods also their prices for the roll vinyl to build your own is very high . also most of the suppliers you noted only add any type of padding just to the insert section of the seats and not totally across the seat faces . Stop by a local auto upholstery shop and see what they can do for you and you'll probably get a better product . SMS priced the hounds tooth material at $85.00 a yard and the vinyl at $55.00 a yard , They are a great source for hard to find materials but there are other low cost sources out there .

Re: Seat upholstery

Ok so now I'm more confused. My seats have the double scroll on both sides which indicates being for 71-72. The 69-70 I see on line show the single scroll down the middle. So are mine wrong for the year? Just trying to get the period correct even though it's just a driver. Thanks Ed...

Re: Seat upholstery

Is your truck a C/10, Custom 10 or CST? Could have been standard vinyl (not reproduced), Custom cloth (has to be custom made) or CST vinyl (available from several sources). It's a good possibility that your cover may have been replaced at some point and most people don't know the difference between the 69-70 & 71-72 seat scroll patterns.

Here's a page from the 1970 pickup brochure showing the different styles available.

Also, hounds tooth was not the original cloth pattern but is a popular substitution if you are not concerned with originality.

Even though I don't have any badges, I assumed it was a C10. So maybe it is a CST. Not sure how to find out but if is then that might explain the double scroll. Thanks for the pics...

Re: Seat upholstery

Does it still have the sticker on the inside of the glovebox door. If so, you can tell what trim level it is from there. Other than that, you may be able to find a build sheet in the truck depending on where it was built.

Re: Seat upholstery

Checked the spid and even though it's faded I didn't see anything with CST or Custom Sport Truck, so I'm down to the other 2 options now...

Re: Seat upholstery

To answer the OP's question... Many vender's sell a replacement seat cover in Vinyl for your truck. They are not that bad of a cover, and almost all will be made from ACC. Vender 'TruckSeats' and I believe some others have a supplier that offers a better quality seat. The scrolling is better and more defined, the stitching is better, and so on. TruckSeats has a thread that shows many of the seat covers that he has sold.

I bought my 69 vinyl seat cover from him. Great service and great product.

Re: Seat upholstery

Sorry, forgot to mention that the dielectrically sealed pleats are your scrolling. Better seats will have a better looking scroll. They will be more defined with better edges, maybe even a little deeper. Makes the seat look a little nicer in my opinion.
