New guy

Hey folks, I'm Kyle, from Houston, Texas and I just picked up a 1970 true SWB project.

My original plan for this truck was thrown out the window after my dad told me my mom had a SWB 70 that my "father" totalled drunk.

I was going to do a vin correct rebuild, but have decided to do a restomod with as much originality of her truck as I can, with a different paint color than hers to honor her beating cancer 3 times.

What started as a manual steering, 3 on the tree truck will become an automatic truck with power steering and power brakes. (Add AC.. Houston summers are brutal)

It will be lowered a little with some modern wheels, but not bagged. (15 bagged trucks in my life is enough)

The wavy, and rusty bed floor will be cut out and replaced with a wood floor that features a design burned into the wood to honor her.

She has a LONG road ahead of her, but this is the first project I have ever had that had sentimental value.

The end goal is for Mom to be able to drive it anytime, anywhere she wants, and not have to worry about the truck, or her comfort.

"Trusty Rusty" lost its name, and direction in less than 12 hours of ownership, and the "Cancer Crusher" was born.

Re: New guy

It's going to be a long and slow build.. There is twice the rust as the guy said, but after driving 6 hours one way, I wasn't coming back without it.

Thumbs up Re: New guy

Definitely looks like a great project! What kind of color are you thinking about going with for your mother? Looking forward to seeing the final build!

Very similar to this truck..

The awareness color for lymphoma is lime green, but I am in love with the white stripe

Re: New guy

Thanks for the kind words and positive thoughts guys

She knows about the truck, just not the plans. Dad does though, and he's ready to help with labor
