Hi Team,

Wondering if anyone on here has ever seen or knows of a thread or has pics of someone that has taken a 67-72 1/2 ton frame with rear coils completely apart for refinishing?

I'm talking removed all crossmembers and rivets to break the frame down to its individual parts and components - side rails etc.

Anyone know? If you know of a thread in existence, please share!

Also, does anyone know if a 3/4 ton coil spring frame could be substituted in place of a 1/2 ton frame? Only difference other than side rail size being rear cab mounts, right??

BTW - looking for a lwb 67-72 1/2 ton frame with rear coils if anyone has one for sale -considering anything!

So much to do but can't seem to make it 25 feet into my garage. I think it has much to do with having a 3 and a 4 year old!!

I think that would be a bad idea. The rivets fit tightly in the holes and bolts don't.

1/2 to 3/4 ton frame diff since I have two side by side at the moment. what a forum members and what iv seen is that the frame differences.. the only difference is that the 3/4 ton has a double frame plateing on the rear coil top frame perch. the 1/2 ton douse not.. and yes the hole for the cab mount brackets seat lower on the 3/4ton frame. but that is it as for as I know.. but I think u could swap everything around as u please and everything should fit..

i also agree... i would not do this. it would be very difficult to get the alignment rights..from rivits to bolts..

What about all the guys have have gone full drop members? thats all bolt in. If you know how to measure it shouldn't be an issue. Measure before and after for square. Your truck frame by now probably isnt square or "straight" anymore

For goodness sakes don't take out the rivets or you will need to look for another frame. I may have a long bed frame but for cryin out loud that is a ride from you to me to get that thing and it may be what next June before the road is thawed? There ought to be 500 or so between you and me that could be bought.

Before what road is thawed? I don't live up the Dalton in Alaska!
True there may be many frames closer.

If I was to break ranks and brake a frame down couldn't the rivet holes be
Drilled out so a bolt fit tightly? Just sayin.....

I'm curious really. Doesn't mean I will,

Anyone closer with a frame?

I have seen a couple threads thru the years with full frame disassemby for powder coat, the reasoning from what i gathered was to stop rust 100% but maybe there are other reasons i don't recall. just remember the factory uses Jigs to align the rails and position the cross members so take precautions, I like the idea of removing one rivet at a time and pre drill the hole to match the new bolt size, tighten the bolt and move to the next ect, then once all are drilled go ahead and dissemble..
