Re: Project '67 k10
I was searching through Craig's list Friday and found this 1967 Chevy k10. It has a 307 small block backed by a three on the tree tranny. It also has Dana front and rear axles in it. The previous owner passed away and the family said it had been sitting for about ten years. Got the gas tank cleaned and went through the carb. Put a battery in it and it fired right up. The truck definitely needs some help but I plan to get it running correctly, clean it up a bit and just enjoy it. |

Re: Project '67 k10
Changed the plugs, wires, cap and rotor today. Definitely running better but needs some carb work. I'm debating whether to rebuild the 2bbl or buy an adapter plate and bolt on a 4bbl.

Re: Project '67 k10
Rebuild kits are cheap, I'd just get it dependable first

Re: Project '67 k10
Well checked the brakes today and found the rear wheel cylinders are leaking. So I'm going to replace all 4 wheel cylinders and probably the rubber lines two. Also if anyone knows the trick to getting the front hubs to lock I'd appreciate the help, they were locked when I got it and I unlocked them but now they don't seem to be locking back in. |

Re: Project '67 k10
I think about my old 67 K10 almost daily. Sure do miss it. I ditched the old closed knuckle Dana 44 with drums for a newer R/V style 10 bolt with discs. (They are cheaper than the disc brake Dana and easier to find) It was a night and day difference. Looks like a nice project

Re: Project '67 k10
After a few trips to the parts store and some long hours wrenching away I finally got the brakes working good. Changed all the wheel cylinders and the master. Getting closer to being road ready, next on the list is rebuilding that carb.

Re: Project '67 k10
Well I replaced the speedometer and repainted the gauge Needles. After installing the cluster none of the lights will work in the dash, all the gauges do but none of the lights, I tested the plug that goes into the Cluster and everything has power. Also checked the ground and it was also good. Any suggestions? Any help would be appreciated. |

Re: Project '67 k10
So I pulled the the cluster back out and individually tested each light bulb and found that all of the bulbs had bad contacts and after cleaning all the contacts the dash lights are now working properly.

Re: Project '67 k10
Well it's been a while since any updates, I have done a lot of little things such as tires, brakes, shocks. I ended up sending the carburetor out to have it boiled and redone but I'm now having problems with it again and will be swapping it out for a 4bbl. Also pulled the transmission and installed a new clutch. Well originally I said I had no exact plans for the truck but I'm starting school out in Cleveland, Ohio and am using it as my daily driver. So last week I loaded it up and drove it 2,600 miles across the country with my buddy. The truck did great, what a fun trip.

Re: Project '67 k10
Well I finally ditched that old Rochester 2-jet. I didn't go too fancy just an Edelbrock 500 cfm carb with an electric choke which I thought would be nicer in the winter time. The trucks running better than ever. |

Re: Project '67 k10
Nice truck and great trip! It reminds me of when I drove my old '64 chevy truck from Va. Beach to Great Lakes Illinois. It was a slow trip through the mountains!
Good luck, Rg

Re: Project '67 k10
That's awesome! Driving that far and towing must have been a heck of ride. Glad you made it. The truck looks like a fairly solid piece. I still regret selling my 67 4x4.

Well I spent the afternoon taking the front hub locks apart and got them locking properly and everything is working great.

Re: Project '67 k10
Well a little update on the truck, the 3 speed decided to take a crap so I found a Muncie sm465 to match my other truck. That started to turn into a pain because I didn't realize how hard it is to find parts to bolt up the Rockwell t221 t-case but I found everything I needed and installed it all in the truck yesterday. The truck is running better than ever.
